Nerf Longstrike by katze316 Nerf Longstrike by katze316
First, i just want to say that this is possibly the most epic nerf gun i have ever held. it reminds me of the Lee Enfield that one of my friends (he's a battle reinactor) has. even with no attachments and the barrel extension removed, it kicks butt. the top pic is the original configuration, the bottom is my personal preference. no, the belt does not come with the gun.

This is the Nerf Longstrike CS-6, probably intended to phase out the Longshot. It looks more like a sniper rifle than the Longshot, it's much lighter than the longshot, and i believe (though i can't test this since i have no longshot) that it has a better range. i'll compare it to my friend's longshot when i get the chance.

The longstrike has a pair of grey ironsights, one right in front of your eye and the other about halfway down the barrel extension. these work remarkably well, better than the ironsights on any other nerf gun. the stock holds not one but two spare clips, giving you a much better storage capacity. the longstrike uses the same arming system as the longshot, only refined slightly to further reduce the chance of mashing or jamming the dart.

the longstrike comes with a small, flip up sight that slides onto the tactical rail. interestingly, when flipped up these two sights line up perfectly with the forward ironsight, and this combination is great for hitting opponents ten to fifteen feet away (can't test longer range, hallway is too short.) when the laser sight is mounted below the barrel, it is actually accurate to about ten feet. also, when using the scope i have mounted on it, the scope lines up with the forward ironsight and the "laser" dot at ten feet but with the scope and ironsight lined up without the laser it is accurate to about twenty feet.

in short, this is a very well-designed gun. the only thing that could make it more epic is if the darts were held in plastic cartridges that got ejected out the top when you reloaded :plotting: now all i need is a big Australian fedora and a pair of sunglasses :D TF2, here i come!!

Oh my god, this is EXACTLY what I needed to read!

I am doing a TF2 Sniper cosplay, so I have a question. Would you personally say the Longshot or the Longstrike was the better option? Or perhaps the N-Strike? Thanks in advance!

I'd say the Longstrike, it looks the most like a real rifle (And it looks more realistic in general). With a little work it'd make a great Machina, but you could probably make it look like any of his rifles. Hope it works well for you!

A mod I think would be cool is replacing the scope's plastic lens with actual convex glass lens. 8-)

I just got this gun myself and I am seeing nowhere near the range your mentioning. Did you modify the gun in any way? Might I have gotten a faulty gun of somekind? I'm looking at modifying it anyway, do you have any recomendations?
currently I'm getting worse range than my maverick!
thanks for any advice you might have.

Worse than the maverick?? That is pretty bad- mine is unmodified (just because I don't like modding my stuff), so you must have gotten a faulty gun. It happens, my yellow maverick can't shoot worth crap but my new transparent one is great, so something must not have been built right on the inside- I'd suggest looking at the air restrictor first, that usually makes a load of difference when you mod the gun.

After some research I realized that this must just be the way it is out of the box. I opened it up and dilled out the air restrictor which made a HUGE improvement. Then I used the 1/4" cpvc ring trick to get full compression of the spring. now it shoots very well. One other thing I did was take apart the barrel extension and remove the inner barrel. I liked the longer barrel look to the gun but the darts seemed to bounce around inside it and loose momentum, so I removed it makeing a larger space for the darts to pass through.

I'm going to start working on repainting it today.

did you modify your maverick at all? I took out the air restrictors in each barrel and it made a huge improvement. Putting some ky jelly on the gears and plunger on the inside will help the mechanics too.

Actually no, both mavericks i own are unmodded. which still confuses me, since the yellow one is so much crappier than the transparent one. Combined with your experiences, I can only assume that Nerf's manufacturing process occasionally makes faulty guns.

must be. I've had several different mavericks and it seems like each one in the out of box factory state were slightly different in quality. after modifying them by removing the air restrictors they worked the same. Knowing that I beleive the variations between guns lies in the spring loaded mechanism in the air restrictor... or the air restrictor pin assymbly.

Gotta paint it brown to go sniper, blue and orange just won't work for the greatest assassin on the planet.

actually, i plan on custom-building the sniper's rifle (or maybe the Huntsman), and making the Tribalman's Shiv from layered cardboard to go with it :D

depends on the angle, but at a 45 dergee angle it fires around 45, 55 feet. It fires a little farther than the Longshot.

I got myself one of those, and I love the charging handle. Reminds me of the American M1903 Springfield.

based on what little time' i've had with my friend's longshot, i'd say yes :D it definitely feels like the longstrike is more accurate and has a longer range, plus it's less bulky and more comfortable. for a definitive answer you'd probably have to try them yourself, but i'd say the answer is yes, Longstrike trumps longshot :D.

i'm not saying that the longshot is bad, just that in my opinion the longstrike is better- i personally like the Furyfire better than either of them, at least for close combat :D

depends on the mod. if it's a performance mod, then yes, but if it's an aesthetic mod then it shouldn't affect anything except the gun's awesomeness factor
